Fissure Sealants
A fissure sealant is a protective plastic coating applied to the chewing surfaces of back teeth. These areas often have deep grooves or “fissures” where food and bacteria can easily get trapped, leading to tooth decay..
Sealants help by:
- Blocking food and bacteria from entering the grooves.
- Reducing the risk of cavities.
- Making teeth easier to clean.
Please see our leaflets for a step-by-step guide on the fissure sealant process.
